Have Your Say on Local Policing - Join Oldham's Independent Advisory Group (IAG)

Dear resident. 

Are you passionate about your local community and interested in helping to shape Policing in Oldham?

Greater Manchester Police is currently seeking volunteers to join the Oldham Independent Advisory Group (IAG). As an IAG member, you will act as a critical friend to GMP, providing independent advice and community perspectives to help improve Policing services, build trust and confidence, and strengthen relationships between the Police and the communities we serve.

We are keen to hear from people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences, particularly those who can bring knowledge and understanding of local communities and under represented groups.

No Policing experience is required. Full training and support will be provided, and all we ask is that members are willing to share their views, attend meetings, and contribute positively to discussions that help shape local policing.

To help ensure the effectiveness of the group, we are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Knowledge of local communities and/or under represented groups.

• Experience of working as part of a team and contributing to the success of group initiatives.

• Experience of sharing views and providing insight on issues affecting communities.

• Experience of interacting or working with people of different ages, backgrounds and viewpoints.

• Experience of attending meetings regularly and making a positive and constructive contribution.

• An interest in local communities and community issues.

• An interest in Policing issues and current affairs, particularly how they affect people within the communities where they live or work.

• An interest in helping GMP build trust and confidence by understanding how Policing tactics and decisions can impact communities.
